Renée de la Torre is professor-researcher at CIESAS Occidente in Guadalajara, Mexico. She has a master's degree in Communication Sciences and a doctorate in Social Sciences with a specialty in Social Anthropology. She is a member of the SNI level III and of the Academy of Science.

Kurmi Soto Velasco holds a master's degree in Hispanic American Literature from the École Nórmale Supérieure de Lyon. Christof Mauch is Director of the Rachel Carson Center for Environment and Society, Chair in American Cultural History at LMU Munich, President of the Foundation for Transatlantic Culture and Politics, and an Honorary Professor at Renmin University in China. Mauch is a past President of the European Society for Environmental History and a former Director of the German Historical Institute in Washington, D.C.

Odette Casamayor-Cisneros (Ph.D. in Art and Literature from the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales [EHESS] of Paris) is a professor of Latin American Cultural Studies at the University of Connecticut.

Kristina Dietz holds a Ph.D. in Political Science from the Department of Social Sciences of Universität Kassel, Germany. Together with Bettina Engels she is director of the Junior Research Group “ "Global Change and Local Conflicts? Conflicts over Land in Latin America and Sub-Saharan Africa in the Context of Interdependent Transformation Processes".
