El pasado que no cesa y el futuro que no llega: estados y democracias fallidas en América Latina

América Latina se debate, nuevamente, entre el autoritarismo y la democracia, entre el regreso a pasados dictatoriales y la esperanza de sociedades libres, entre el pasado que no cesa y el futuro que no llega. Desde finales de la década de 2010, el descontento popular se reactivó en la región, dando señales de la disconformidad con el tipo de política que se practicaba, llevando la polarización política a niveles desconocidos hasta este momento.

Juan Pablo Jiménez

Juan Pablo Jiménez is a lecturer of Public Finance at the Latin American Faculty of Social Sciences (FLACSO) in Buenos Aires, Argentina. He is also a researcher at the Center for Economic Research (CINVE) in Uruguay and the Vice President of the Ibero-American Association for Local Financing (AIFIL). Dr. Jiménez was the office director of the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) in Uruguay and the coordinator of the Fiscal Area of the Economic Development Division of ECLAC in Santiago, Chile.

Non-colonial theoretical-methodological approaches in sociocultural health research

The Covid-19 pandemic brought to light multiple realities in the health/disease/care/prevention processes. Most of the health systems in diverse countries of the world were overwhelmed in the search to provide care to the large number of people infected by SARS-COV-2. Processes of historical and structural economic inequality that had a direct impact on health care were aggravated by the pandemic.

Fernando Resende

Fernando Resende is Professor at the Department of Cultural and Media Studies and the Graduate Program in Communication at the Universidade Federal Fluminense (UFF), Brazil. He has a Post-doctorate at the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS - University of London), a PhD in Communication Sciences from the University of São Paulo (USP); Master in Literary Studies from the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG), both in Brazil. He is Researcher PQ/CNPq.
