The Latin American social thought facing the idea of crisis
The concept of crisis seems to be an intermittent category that, every so often, appears in the field of social thought to describe an era, or a matrix of intelligibility to think about the tensions and conflicts that shape different geopolitical scenarios. But this concept not only has served to think about cyclical aspects of the political economy of different countries or regional blocks, but has also worked with culture in its different manifestations: politics, art, and language, among others.

Wilfried Raussert is Professor for Literature and Culture of North America and Chair of North American and Inter-American Studies at Bielefeld University, where he is currently Head of the Cultural Studies Department. From 2013 to 2019 he was the Spokesperson of the BMBF project Entangled Americas at the CIAS, Bielefeld University. He was Director of the International Association of Inter-American Studies and is General Editor of its e-journal fiar (forum for inter-american research).
