Within the current framework programme "Understanding Society - Shaping the Future", the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) supports the academic work and internationalization of the humanities and social sciences. The BMBF works here primarily through the three successfully tested funding initiatives "Käte Hamburger Kollegs", "Maria Sibylla Merian Centres" and "Regional Studies".
