Mauricio Folchi (Santiago de Chile, 1971) is an academic in the Department of Historical Sciences of the University of Chile, Doctor in Economic History from the Autonomous University of Barcelona, a specialist in Environmental History and socio-environmental studies. His main lines of research are environmental history (mining, energy, and forestry) and the analysis of environmental conflicts. He is currently Director of the Interdisciplinary Center for Socio-environmental Studies (NIES); He is also the academic coordinator of the Diploma in Socio-environmental Studies and in charge of the General Training Course "Environmental Problems of Chile"; all from the University of Chile. He has been a visiting professor at the Pompeu Fabra University (Barcelona), at the Autonomous University of Barcelona, at the University of Caldas (Colombia), and at the National University of Costa Rica, where he has taught courses in Economic History, Environmental History, Political Ecology and Interdisciplinarity.
