Elissa J. Rashkin

Elissa J. Rashkin (PhD, Communication Studies, University of Iowa, USA) is a researcher at the Center for the Study of Culture and Communication at the Universidad Veracruzana, Mexico.She is the author of Atanasio D. Vázquez, photographer of the post-revolution in Veracruz (Instituto Veracruzano de la Cultura, 2015), "Women filmmakers in Mexico. El otro cine" (Universidad Veracruzana, 2015) and "La aventura estridentista. Historia cultural de una vanguardia" (Fondo de Cultura Económica/Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana/Universidad Veracruzana, 2014), the latter also published in English (University of Texas Press, 2001, and Lexington Books, 2009, respectively); in addition to articles and chapters on topics of film, photography, literature and Mexican and international cultural history.  She is also co-coordinator, with Norma Esther García Meza, of Escenarios de la cultura y la comunicación en México (Universidad Veracruzana, 2012) and, with Ester Hernández Palacios, of "Luz rebelde. Mujeres y producción cultural en el México posrevolucionario" (Universidad Veracruzana, 2020). Her research has received support from the National Endowment for the Humanities, the Fulbright Scholar Program, the American Philosophical Society and the Programa de Mejoramiento del Profesorado (Promep) of the Mexican Ministry of Public Education.
