Este taller surge como un espacio de intercambio y reflexión en torno a una cuestión poco abordada dentro de la vasta producción académica sobre dictadura, represión y memoria en el Cono Sur: las experiencias directas de niños, niñas y adolescentes que sufrieron formas específicas de violencia estatal. El objetivo del encuentro es ir más allá de las categorías filiatorias y postmemoriales para poder dar cuenta de vivencias, afectos y agencias propias de aquellas víctimas infantiles, hoy adultos. Buscamos ampliar esta perspectiva al incorporar trabajos que examinan diversas
situaciones donde se pone en juego la capacidad de agencia de las infancias bajo condiciones extremas.

Estudiantes, investigadoras e investigadores, así como público interesado podrán participar en las sesiones virtuales y abiertas. El evento es completamente gratuito. Existe la posibilidad de obtener un certificado de participación con previa inscripción, asistiendo a los tres días de trabajo. Die Corona-Krise trifft Lateinamerika mit besonderer Härte. Die Gesundheitssysteme sind prekär und über soziale Absicherung verfügen nur Wenige. Schon vor dem Ausbruch der Pandemie befand sich die Region in einer tiefen wirtschaftlichen, politischen und sozialen Krise. Armut, soziale Ungleichheiten, autoritäre Politiken, Korruption, Gewalt sowie die Diskriminierung sozialer, politischer und kultureller Rechte haben in den letzten Jahren stark zugenommen und provozierten Unmut und Massenproteste. Schon jetzt wird sichtbar, dass sich die Krisentendenzen in der Region weiter verschärfen werden. Dies stellt die Region vor enorme Herausforderungen. Die virtuelle Tagung zieht eine Zwischenbilanz über die Auswirkungen der Pandemie in Lateinamerika, zeigt gesellschaftliche, politische und kirchliche Ansätze im Umgang mit der Krise und diskutiert gemeinsame Handlungsspielräume in europäi-scher und lateinamerikanischer Perspektive.

At the science festival GLOBE21, the Merian Centers, which are funded by the BMBF, would like to contribute to a better understanding and general reflection on the immanent, but also on the possible long-term implications of the COVID-19 crisis on research conditions in the Global South and on international scientific cooperation. 

What do science, research and international cooperation (North-South; South-South) mean in times of crisis? And what are the constraints and opportunities in these areas? What are the consequences for the Merian Centers and the international research community?

Over the past year, the five Merian- Centers in the humanities and social sciences, located in different regions of the Global South, have felt the constraints on international mobility resulting from the outbreak of the Covid 19 pandemic on research and exchange conditions to a significant degree. At the same time, however, the Merian Centers are an extremely suitable place to observe, accompany and research the effects of the pandemic on research and science in these partner regions. 

The idea behind the BMBF's Merian Initiative is that in-depth exchange with scientists from countries in Asia, Africa and Latin America, as well as cooperation with foreign universities and non-university research institutions, will make a significant contribution to the long-term networking of top-level German regional science research with the respective partner countries and regions.
